European Cup success
On Saturday 3rd
November 2007 five members of West Bromwich Karate Kai and their families flew to
Gothenburg, Sweden to compete in the Wado Kai European Championships along with
their chief instructor Sensei Ray Field. The five members Hayley Henry (13),
Emma Bradnick (13), Stacey Woodhall (14), Shannon Parsons (16) and Jon Leferve
(12) were representing their country, after battling out for places in the Wado
Kai England Squad and finally being selected by the squad coach Sensei Tom
Clarke.
The
competition was attended by a vast amount of people from all different
countries, including the current reigning champions Russia. The competition was
not going to be easy, but the West Bromwich kids had trained hard religiously,
and were ready for whatever came their way.
After a long
day of tough competing, the whole England squad got together to reflect on their
day and to count their silverware. Unbelievably forty one members out of the
forty eight competitors achieved a podium place, including the members from
West Bromwich. Hayley Henry placed joint 3rd along with her team-mate
Emma Bradnick, Stacey Woodhall also placed 3rd, Shannon Parsons
placed 2nd along with Jon Leferve.
West Bromwich
Karate Kai chief instructor Ray Field, would like to congratulate the entire
squad on their achievements.
